Episode Summary

Ever feel like you’re losing yourself in midlife?

In this powerful episode, I’m sitting down with expert Ashley Turner to explore the deeper meaning behind midlife hormonal changes in perimenopause and menopause.

Ashley helps you discover how perimenopause can be a profound reckoning, discussing how this stage of life invites us to shift from ego-driven goals toward greater purpose and compassion for others… and more importantly, for yourself.

Ashley beautifully reframes midlife as not an ending, but a spiritual awakening — a chance to realign with who we are and what we value.

We also dive into how embracing this change can spark healing, empowerment, and advocacy for ourselves and others.

Tune in for an inspiring conversation that will leave you ready to step into your next chapter with grace and intention.

  3. How hormones can help some but not ALL symptoms
  4. Why being intentional about your choices matters more in midlife

  6. How we can shift the culture around perimenopause awareness

  8. How Perimenoapuse can be one of your greatest teachers

QUOTES

“Once I got on the hormones, that was extremely helpful and it totally saved my life, and I love them… [but] it didn’t solve all my problems. There’s still a huge developmental phase that we’re going through as women. People going through menopause, huge transitions in our sense of self, our ambition, our drive, who we are, our identity, of course sexuality, and that’s a lot to manage on top of everything else that’s happening in life.”

“For a lot of women, it’s taking 4 to 6 appointments for doctors to connect the dots between what they’re going through and it being perimenopause and menopause. And what that does is it delays care, it delays treatment, and it delays a woman’s quality of life.”

“I think telling the stories and sharing really authentically and vulnerably and transparently is such an important piece of this because we heal together. We are changing culture. We are weaving a new sisterhood, a new ethos. We also have to educate our partners, our children, our work environments, and really shape shift the culture.”

Episode Summary

What do you really want the second half of your life to look like?

Being a doormat for others, then resenting it? Saying yes, when you really mean no? Doing more tasks or more work, taking responsibility for everything, and feeling overwhelmed in your life?

This can be how so many of us in midlife feel, but I’m here to tell you there IS another way.

In this episode, I sit down with expert Beatriz Albina to talk about a challenge so many women face but can’t always name—patterns of overgiving, perfectionism, and the ultimate people-pleasing trap.

Beatriz introduces the concept of emotional outsourcing and how it quietly drives these behaviors, leaving us feeling stuck and drained.

Together, we discuss how reframing your mindset is a powerful tool for reclaiming your emotional well-being. Plus, Beatriz gives us a sneak peek into her brand-new book, End Emotional Outsourcing—a guide to finding freedom, balance, and true self-connection.

QUOTES

“This is what happens when we get activated or triggered in our nervous system. When we start being mean to ourselves, when we ignore our impulses, when we project, when we take things personally, when we get offended, all these things– our nervous system is in a different time and place.”

“That’s the self-worth work. Saying, ‘I trust myself, I believe in myself, and so I know that this isn’t a problem.’ And that’s that. Not allowing any other thoughts to enter your beautiful mind space, your world, your body. It’s really vital work.”

“What our children and our partners, and our friends and our communities and ourselves want and need from us the most, most, most, is presence. Intunement and presence.”

QUOTES

“85% of women in perimenopause also have other chronic illnesses; endometriosis, autoimmune disease, pain syndromes, PCOS, chronic concussions, diabetes…”

“I always say this is kind of the only time in life you get to slow down for a minute. I highly suggest hiring a coach… You probably never had this opportunity to lead from your desires.”

“You’re in perimenopause. You have a lot going on physiologically. You have a lot going on in your career, your parenting, but also your decisions aren’t exactly your own. I feel like for me, they’ve always been integrated with at least my husband and my kids… so you also have to deepen your skillset of relationships, of listening, of prioritizing people’s desires and needs.”

“There’s gonna be many levels of dealing with that trigger, including probably hormone support and reprioritizing yourself on your schedule, which is going to take time setting boundaries.”

“Be patient, ladies. It’s not about willpower, it’s not about trying harder. It’s about knowing this kind of vulnerable time and going, ‘Okay, maybe I wanna build this time a little differently. If I know I’m vulnerable, what would be a habit or a self-care practice just to help me through this time?’”
