QUOTES

“So often sleep is disrupted by perimenopause and menopause. What a lot of women don’t realize is you can be having hot flashes but not consciously registering you’re having hot flashes. So a lot of women are being woken up by hot flashes they didn’t realize they were having.”

”We desperately need more practitioners who can answer those questions for women, whether it’s a more natural, holistic approach that does or doesn’t include hormone therapy, antidepressants, or any of the other things. Because the other problem is that these doctors are often doling out pharmaceuticals for sleep.”

”We now know that the impact of declining estrogen and progesterone on the brain [and] on the nervous system absolutely has an impact on anxiety, depression, and sleep.”

“I think the more that we have conversations like this, the more normalized it will become, and the more normalized having these conversations will become. It gives us the empowerment and the invitation to ask questions, to ask our doctors to do the right types of tests, to get different opinions, to explore.”

“Radical love to me means embracing the whole of who you are.”

Episode Summary

The number one reason women come to me for guidance during the perimenopause transition is brain-related.

So in this episode, we dive into why perimenopause directly impacts your mental and emotional health. Many women in midlife experience emotionally connected symptoms like rage, irritability, low stress tolerance, mood swings, depression, and anxiety.

That’s because perimenopause isn’t just a reproductive transition — it’s a neuroendocrine one, meaning your brain and hormones are deeply intertwined

As hormones fluctuate wildly, it’s no wonder you may feel like you don’t even recognize yourself anymore.

But you’re not alone — millions of women are feeling the same!  Tune in here and learn what’s really going on in your brain during this transition.

IN THIS EPISODE

  1. How hormone changes in midlife affect our brain
  2. The variability around perimenopause and how it impacts people at different ages, with a multitude of symptoms
  3. How to level up during perimenopause and menopause
  4. About my Perimenopause Solution Event
  5. Raising awareness for ALL women about midlife health

QUOTES

“Eight of the 10 most common symptoms during this [perimenopause] transition are going to be neurological.”

“It can feel so scary to experience these symptoms without understanding why they’re happening, and that’s why we need to address why women aren’t feeling like themselves in perimenopause. I’ve said it before, and I will say it again– perimenopause deserves our undivided attention. And this is why I wrote the Perimenopause Revolution.”

“Depending on how we take care of our bodies during perimenopause, it can really determine how our bodies thrive. In menopause and beyond.”
