It comes up every holiday season at every party I attend. “What is Frankincense, anyway?”
December is typically the only time of year Frankincense gets any attention. So I thought I’d shine the spotlight on Frankincense essential oil. It has some amazing health benefits no matter what time of the year it is!
BACKGROUND OF FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL
Frankincense’s first claim to fame was as a gift given by the Wise Men at the birth of Jesus Christ. Regardless of your religious beliefs, you can’t deny the power of this oil and its extraordinary health benefits. In addition to mentions in the New Testament, Frankincense is believed to have been used by the Babylonians and Assyrians in religious ceremonies. Some have even dubbed it the “King of Oils.”
Frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from the resin of several varieties of the Boswellia tree.
The internal and external health benefits of Frankincense essential oil are wide-ranging and cover a much broader scope than other essential oils. From reducing the appearance of rough skin and other skin imperfections to improving mood and cellular health, Frankincense should be on everyone’s go-to list. It’s a pleasant aroma that you’ll quickly grow to appreciate.
