Let’s face it, as special as the holidays are, they are also the hardest time of year to keep our healthy lifestyle in check.  This year, I’d like to give you some tools in your arsenal to battle those sugary demons whispering in your ear.  Instead of dreading the weight gain of the holidays, be empowered to confidently stick to your healthy goals with these essential oil recipes.

Lemon and Grapefruit essential oils are great to add in your drinking water for the day to fight against the temptations of sugary treats.  It will help to sustain you and amp up your metabolism in the process.  Fennel essential oil is also a great stand-alone to diffuse or apply when you’re feeling tempted by those holiday sweets and treats.  I like putting 3 drops of Fennel essential oil with a few drops of citrus in my diffuser when I know sugary temptation will be high.

doTERRA Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend is a synergistic combination of essential oils designed to curb cravings and sustain health.

Don’t have a diffuser?  Surprisingly, you don’t need a diffuser to diffuse your favorite holiday essential oil recipes!  Let’s look at these out-of-the box ideas for creatively filling your space with incredible holiday aromas.

#1 – SNEAKY DECORATIONS – You can always add a drop of your favorite EOs or blends to some decorations, such as a holiday kitchen towel that isn’t used or a decorative wreath.

#2 – BOIL OUT THE SCENT – Warm a small pot of water on the stove, allowing the water to steam without boiling.  Add your favorite essential oil recipe and voila! – instant essential oil aromas filling the room!  You may need to add more water and oils as they will evaporate over time, but it’s a quick way to add some scent at the last minute!

#3 – PERSONAL AROMA – Draw a warm bath and add ¼ cup Epsom salts and a few drops of your favorite blend.  Use this self-care time to unwind and focus on the positives!

#4 – TP TRICK – To keep a pleasant aroma in your bathroom with every visit, add essential oils to the inside of the toilet paper roll on the cardboard.  Every time it spins, instant win!

#5 – AROMATHERAPY JEWELRY – Talk about an awesome gift with the bonus of sharing essential oils with those that you love.  From necklaces to lava beads, leather bracelets to hair accessories, you can gift the ones you love with a beautiful piece guaranteed to enhance their health.  Be sure to give them a few drams of samples to try with their new bling!

Yes, the holidays are supposed to be the happiest time of year according to all the songs you’re hearing on the radio, but for many of us, the holiday season can trigger painful memories and evoke overwhelming feelings of sadness if you’ve suffered the loss of a loved one.

The holidays can also be a time of busyness and stress due to traveling, hosting out-of-town guests, and shopping galore, not to mention the toll that purchasing gifts takes on your budget.

Before the holidays arrive, be sure you’re being intentional about what you are saying“yes” to, and where you can say “no.”  Cutting unnecessary activities out of your schedule affords you more time to replenish and destress so that you can be your best you during this season of giving and gratitude.

This holiday season, challenge yourself to continue caring for yourself and stick with your healthy lifestyle goals, even when it’s tempting to quit during the winter months.

Eat healthy as much as possible and try some new recipes!

Limit sugar as much as possible without depriving yourself of your favorite foods.

Allow yourself adequate rest and exercise.

Remember to schedule in some personal time for yourself, whether it’s a quiet moment to enjoy a cup of tea, taking a walk to enjoy the holiday lights, or simply sitting by the fire with a good book.

Keeping these foundations will serve as a baseline for your overall emotional well-being.

Whatever you choose to diffuse, may your holidayseason be filled with peace, love, and vitality!
