Episode Summary

The power of food has changed the landscape of my health and that of so many other women. Food can be the best medicine when looking to regulate your immune system, balance your hormones, reverse chronic disease and heal the body. However, it needs to be used correctly, which is where today’s expert comes in.

Christa Orecchio is a clinical and holistic nutritionist and the founder of The Whole Journey. Christa is passionate about helping you heal your adrenals, gut, immune system and central nervous system in a holistic way by using food as medicine and addressing everything in a way that works for your body.

By understanding your body’s own inherent healing capacity and the different types of effects that can be impacting your body, you can start to address your mind, body, and spirit all at the same time. This episode is packed with foods, fruits, and root suggestions to help you train your body to work for you, and specific tools to help you navigate your whole-body health.

With Christa’s six pillar strategy, you can get out of sympathetic dominance and heal your mind, body, and spirit through food and become your own best doctor. Are you ready to build yourself up from the inside out? Share what you learned from Christa with us in the comments below!

Quotes

“Basically all of functional medicine can be handled with the triangle of addressing the thyroid, the adrenals, and the gut. You figure out where something started and how it tagged the other two, and help them get better, then that can fix 90% of health issues.”  (10:22)

“They are all interconnected, right? So for me, hormonal balance begins in the brain.” (15:46)

“When we are in this state we have completely lost our ability to regulate our blood sugar, so instead of actually living off of food, we are living off of stress hormones. So what we have to do is we have to get out of this chaotic whirlpool.” (19:51)

“Science is objective, but we need the subjective because we don’t treat the lab work, we are treating the person.” (30:33)

“You are going to be in this human body for the rest of your life, if you can really get to know yourself on a mind-body-emotional level, then you will have the tools to keep yourself in balance.” (31:49)
