The Unbelievable Healing Power of Aromatic Dressing

How does self-care play into your life right now? Are you taking time just for YOU each and every day? Have you heard of aromatic dressing?

I know, I know. You’re too busy. Your kids are relentless. You have a big project at work. You need to follow through with all of your other commitments.

Let me tell you a secret…

You will be a million times more effective at facing ALL of these if you take a moment to care for yourself first. You carry the weight of your world on your shoulders, and often your own body suffers because of it.


It’s a myth that self-care is selfish.  Its end game is selfless.  You must get your body in top condition so the world can have the best of you!  

Listen to what your body is telling you. Show your body the love it deserves for getting you through each and every day.

Today, I want to share one of my favorite, most powerful self-care rituals to set the tone for my day and set my perspective in the right place. It’s called aromatic dressing, and it can change your life!  And, no, it isn’t some fancy salad topping!


This is a ritual I do after I shower every morning. Ultimately, it’s a way to show my body some love.  It empowers me to love and respect my body. 

It’s about the ritual – setting a routine of self-love that will carry into the rest of your day!

Daily rituals not only bring enjoyment to your life, but they also empower you with a sense of self-love that will radiate to those around you. Small things like this can bring interest and purpose to your life to help offset the stress and self-deprecating cycles that plague us all!

If you are looking for a breakthrough in your health journey, I suggest you turn to self-care. Changing your habits doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Just do one thing at a time as you work to gain your power back! Your rituals will become the best part of your day and allow you to keep moving forward. That’s why I love starting my day with aromatic dressing — it allows me to prioritize myself and gives me the self-love I need to value myself and face my day with confidence!


#1 – Aesthetic Arrangement

Arrange your supplies beautifully in your bathroom (so you won’t be inconvenienced with gathering supplies and skip the ritual!).  You will need a small glass bowl, your favorite essential oils, and a carrier oil, or some natural body butter (if you need a good recipe for one, check out The Smart Mom’s Guide to Essential Oils!).

#2 – Intuitive Preparation

Choose your oils intuitively by asking yourself what your body is craving. The very act of asking yourself this question is a way to get in tune with your body and give it the respect it deserves!  In your aromatic glass dressing bowl, add 5 drops of your favorite essential oils to about 2 tsp. of a carrier oil like fractionated coconut or jojoba oil. You can choose oils that support your body’s stress response, immunity, empowerment, love, or whatever you feel like you need.

#3 – Supportive Application

Begin by applying the oils at the bottom of your legs in big circular motions working your way up to your heart. Dip and rub, dip and rub, giving your body loving touch and supporting it with powerful essential oils.

#4 – Positive Affirmations

Affirmations give you strength by helping you believe in your own power. What really gives aromatic dressing its power is pairing these oils with positive affirmations.  Affirm your dreams and ambitions. Affirm your beauty, worth, and power. Speaking positively to yourself will rewire your brain, raising the level of feel-good hormones in your body to set you on the path of healing and joy.


Aromatic dressing is a very individual, personal thing. Every day may be different based on what your body needs, so don’t go into it with any expectations. Listen to your body, and you will be amazed by what the oils will offer you! 

That being said, I have some go-to’s that I’d love to share with you to help you have an idea where to start. I love Frankincense, Rose, Jasmine, and doTERRA’s Elevation and Whisper blends. Each one of these is grounding and supportive of positive emotions. They also all pack a punch for hormone balance, which you know is super important to me!

Here’s another one of my favorite blends that will clothe your body in love and acceptance while also supporting your hormone balance, calming your stress, and soothing your body.

Self-Love Blend

20 drops Lavender essential oil
20 drops Frankincense essential oil
15 drops Clary Sage essential oil
10 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil

Add oils to empty 15 ml essential oil bottle. Swirl to combine before each use. To use in aromatic dressing, just use 5 drops straight from the bottle into your carrier oil in a glass bowl!
